Meet Maine Craftsman: Elizabeth Rosquete
of Brickyard Cove Pottery
I live and work on Brickyard Cove in Freeport, Maine. My pottery is influenced by the ever changing colors of Casco Bay and it's islands. I incorporate the cool blues and greens on my pieces, often with a touch of warm brown as an accent. The glazes are fluid, no two pieces are identical.
The pottery I make is functional, designed to bring beauty to objects that are used over and over again. Most items are thrown on the wheel using white stoneware or porcelain clay. The vessels are finished off, often with carving or other alterations to the surface or form. I sign each piece on the bottom prior to firing in my electric kiln.
The pots are lead-free, and safe for the dishwasher, microwave and oven. All are created to be used and enjoyed every day.
